High school yearbook staff and a couple of college photography courses planted a seed for this art, but I truly began picking up my camera to capture my little ones, trying to freeze this fleeting time. Overwhelmingly beautiful joy is captured through photography, and I want to document that for you, by creating fine art that you will long to print out and hang on your walls for years to come. Once your date is reserved, we'll start chatting about locations for your session. I generally recommend choosing one location and if it's a place you haven't been before, it might be helpful to visit during the time our session will take place.
I will suggest a few thoughtfully selected locations, that I know photography well with the light & airy aesthetic that you will find in my portfolio and instagram. If you have a special location in mind, I'm more than happy to consider that as well!

Achieving a light & airy look in your photos starts with styling. I know the perfect, coordination outfits can be a bit overwhelming, but when you invest in your family photos with me, not only do you have access to personal styling assistance and links, but to my growing client wardrobe for mamas & littles.
What you choose to wear and how you coordinate with your family can enhance the joy that we want to capture, by leaving the contrast (that our eyes LOVE in photos) all to our faces and expressions. By choosing light, neutral colors, the focus remains on our faces. My favorite color choices are creams, ivories, tans, blues, greens, and pinks. Our eye loves texture and movement in art (your photos!) so think laces, eyelets, tulle, ribbons and long dresses. For the Fall & Winter, I love cords and velvets, a beautiful coat and subtle accessories. Soft florals and ginghams or stripes are always welcome, as well. Of course there are exceptions, so if you have your heart set on something specific let's chat about it and make it work beautifully!

On the day of your session, we'll connect to make sure the weather still looks like it's going to corporate. In the event that it's raining or super cloudy, we will work out another day to have your family session. I pride myself in delivering bright and joyful photos, with natural lighting, and will be unable to achieve that look in your photos, if the sun isn't cooperating.

All images from our sessions are typically delivered within about two weeks of the shoot date via an online gallery. This gallery will allow you to share your favorites with family, order prints and even download images to share on social media.
Your gallery will remain active for at least a year, although I highly recommend downloading your images and backing them up, immediately.

Yes, you are welcome to print the images on your own. If you do this, we recommend making sure that the printer does not color correct the images (many automatically do this.) We also recommend looking for a high quality printer. While 10 cent prints sound great in theory, the cheaper printing quality often won’t do your images justice. Paper quality, color correction and a handful of other factors play a big role in the way your prints turn out.

Can I print the images on my own?

While we don’t guarantee an exact number of images, we will make sure we capture your family thoroughly. Most families should expect to receive at least 50 edited images following their session.

How many images will I receive?

We guarantee that your images will remain in an online gallery for at least a year. While your galleries may stay up longer than that, we cannot guarantee it. Once your galleries have been delivered, we highly recommend downloading all high resolution images to several devices. Consider investing in a portable, waterproof external hard drive.

How long will I have access to the images?

While turnaround times can vary by season, we aim to deliver all images within three weeks of your session. Usually it is much sooner.

Questions
You are absolutely welcome to share images on social media. To ensure that our work is properly represented, we ask that you refrain from any edits. We also appreciate image credits and tags as they help us to continue to grow as a business.

Can I share the images on social media?

By default, the creators of images always own the rights to the images. However we’ll give you a release to use, print and share your images. The only thing you won’t be able to do is sell your image as a stock photo. We won’t do this either without your written permission.

Do I own the rights to the images?

We typically plan about 60 minutes for portrait sessions. That allows us time to take a few small water breaks or just let the children have a moment off. (Newborn sessions we allow 2 hours, as feedings are required.)

How long should we plan for the session to take?

We do light retouching on all of our images. This means that if there are any glaring objects that should be removed (such as a bump from the tumble your toddler took that morning,) we’ll remove it. Larger edits (such as removing tan lines,) require more time and would require us to add additional editing hours to your collection.
